Why use AI to write Stable Diffusion (SDXL / SD 3.5) prompts from images?

Stable Diffusion prompts are different from Midjourney or Flux. SD wants comma-separated tags, with a separate negative prompt for what to avoid. The model is sensitive to quality tags — "masterpiece, best quality, highly detailed" is the standard SD ritual. An image-to-Stable-Diffusion-prompt tool writes both the positive and negative prompt for you — upload an image and paste the result into your SD interface.

The image-to-prompt tool returns four prompt formats in one click. The Stable Diffusion format is the one tuned for what you'll be pasting — but if you want to compare, the General, Flux, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion formats are all in the result tabs.

Stable Diffusion prompt tips

A few things to know when using the generated prompt with Stable Diffusion (SDXL / SD 3.5):

How to convert an image to a Stable Diffusion prompt

  1. Upload your image to the Image to Prompt tool. Any photo, AI render, screenshot, or artwork. JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10MB.
  2. Click Generate. The AI reads the image and writes four prompts in one pass — the Stable Diffusion format is in its own tab.
  3. Copy the Stable Diffusion prompt and paste it into your Stable Diffusion (SDXL / SD 3.5) interface. Edit if you want to tweak the tone or detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work on SDXL or SD 1.5?
Both. The prompt format is the same; the model just interprets it differently. SDXL and SD 3.5 give better results from the same prompt than SD 1.5.
Will it include negative prompt tags?
Yes — every output includes a negative prompt with common quality blockers (blurry, low quality, distorted, watermark, text, extra fingers, deformed). Edit it before using.
Can I use the prompt with LoRAs?
Yes. Add your LoRA trigger words to the positive prompt — usually at the start, sometimes with weight syntax depending on your interface.
Does it work in ComfyUI / Automatic1111?
Yes. Both interfaces accept comma-separated prompts. Paste the positive into the positive field and the negative into the negative field.
What about Pony or other anime checkpoints?
The general prompt works as a starting point. Pony-specific prompts often need extra tags (score_9, score_8_up, etc.) — add them to the positive prompt.
Will it include weights like (cat:1.2)?
The default prompt is plain. Add weights manually after generation if you need to emphasize specific tokens.
Can I use it for img2img?
Yes. The prompt describes the source image, which works as the conditioning prompt for an img2img pass when you want to keep most of the original.
