AI Beverages Photography for Shopify
Transform your beverages photos into Shopify-ready product images. Professional backgrounds, perfect lighting, and marketplace-compliant quality.
Beverages are the hardest product category to put through a Shopify theme, because almost everything you sell is either transparent, reflective, or both, and every theme in the ecosystem will crop it into a fixed frame you did not choose. A 750ml bottle shot beautifully at full height becomes a two-pixel-wide sliver in a mobile collection grid. A clear seltzer can loses its edges entirely against the pure white Shopify merchants default to. And because Shopify serves your image up to 2048px with pinch-zoom on product pages, shoppers will zoom straight into the back label looking for caffeine content, sweetener, ABV, or ingredient order.
Shopify itself is permissive: no mandated background, no forced aspect ratio, no minimum number of shots. That freedom is the trap. Consistency is enforced by your theme's crop setting, not by a marketplace reviewer, so drift between flavors, pack sizes, and restock shoots shows up as a ragged grid.
Get four things right and beverage listings behave: a square-safe framing decision made before you shoot, controlled specular highlights on glass and aluminum, label legibility at 2048px, and honest scale cues so nobody opens a 250ml can expecting a 500ml one.

Killing Reflections That Survive Shopify's 2048px Zoom
A bottle is a curved mirror, and Shopify's zoom viewer is unforgiving about it. At 800px nobody notices your softbox edge, your tripod leg, or the reflection of the room behind the camera. At 2048px, which is the size Shopify recommends so zoom actually works, all of it is readable. Shoot with a large diffusion panel or scrim well back from the bottle so the highlight becomes a soft vertical strip rather than a hard rectangle, then flag the camera side with black foamcore so the lens does not appear in the glass.
Glossy label varnish is the second offender. Cross-polarizing (gel on the light, circular polarizer on the lens) kills varnish glare but also flattens the liquid, so many beverage shooters expose one pass polarized for the label and one unpolarized for the liquid and blend them. Aluminum cans need the opposite treatment: strip lights on both sides give the cylinder its metallic falloff, and the can should be rotated so the label seam sits behind the visible face.
Square Crops, Tall Bottles, and Variant Grids
Most Shopify themes, Dawn included, let you pick a media aspect ratio per collection and product page: square, portrait, landscape, or adapt to first image. Square is the safest for mixed catalogs, and it is exactly wrong for a slim 750ml bottle unless you plan for it. Shoot on a wide canvas, then compose so the bottle occupies roughly the central 60 to 70 percent of a 1:1 frame with even headroom and footroom. Do not fill the frame edge to edge; the neck will get sheared off in the grid thumbnail even though the product page looks fine.
Then lock that framing. Every flavor, every pack size, every reshoot goes on the same marks, same lens, same distance, so when a shopper clicks a variant swatch only the label color changes. Multipacks need their own images tied to the pack-size variant, because a 4-pack listing showing a single can is the most common refund conversation in this category.
