AI Candles Photography for Shopify
Transform your candles photos into Shopify-ready product images. Professional backgrounds, perfect lighting, and marketplace-compliant quality.
Shopify does not police your product photos the way a marketplace does. There is no forced white background, no pixel check, no rejection email. That freedom is the trap: candle listings live or die on whether a shopper can judge wax color, vessel size, and label print quality from a screen, and nothing in the platform stops you from publishing images that fail all three.
What Shopify does enforce is technical. Image files can run up to 20 MB and 5760 x 5760 px, and a single product can hold up to 250 media items. Theme zoom behaves best when the source file is at least 2048 x 2048 px, which for candles means every fingerprint on the glass, every frosted patch on soy wax, and every crooked label edge is fair game at full magnification. Your theme also crops collection thumbnails to one aspect ratio, so a tall apothecary jar and a squat 4 oz tin photographed at different distances will look mismatched in the grid.
Three things matter most here: framing that survives the theme crop, honest color for cream and amber tones, and a distinct variant image for every scent.

Perfect For
Glass, Wax, and Flame Under Shopify Zoom
A glass candle vessel is a curved mirror. Shot with bare strobes or a window at the wrong angle it will show your lights, your tripod, and the room behind you, and Shopify's pinch-to-zoom on mobile makes those reflections unmissable. Diffuse everything through a large scrim or shoot into a white V-flat so the jar picks up broad, soft gradients instead of hard hotspots. Keep a lint-free cloth on set; wax dust and glue residue on the glass read as defects at 2048 px.
Color accuracy is the other trap. Soy and coconut wax rarely photograph as the warm ivory customers see in person, and auto white balance pushes it toward blue-gray or dirty yellow. Shoot a gray card, lock white balance, and check the finished file against the physical candle on a calibrated screen. Amber and cobalt vessels shift hue badly under mixed lighting, so commit to one light source temperature per shoot.
Scent Variant Images and Grid Consistency
Candles are usually sold as one product with a scent dropdown, and Shopify swaps the featured image when a shopper selects a variant. If all six scents share one generic hero shot, that swap does nothing and the customer has no visual confirmation they picked Tobacco Vanilla and not Sea Salt. Assign each variant its own frame with the label square to the camera and readable without zooming, ideally at the same distance and angle so the swap feels like a color change, not a whole new photo.
For the collection grid, pick one aspect ratio, 1:1 or 4:5, and shoot every SKU to it. Leave consistent headroom so a 10 oz three-wick and a travel tin occupy similar proportions of the frame after cropping. Export under about 1 MB where you can, since these files load on your own storefront and hurt your page speed directly rather than a marketplace's.
