Shopify is one of the few places you can sell sunglasses without a marketplace image police force. A sunglass lens reflects your entire room back at the camera. Shoot with the frame slightly nose-down and the camera slightly above center so the lens bounces a clean surface instead of your lens barrel, then build a large diffused source well off to the side and flag the front with black card. A circular polarizer knocks down the last sheen on gloss acetate, though it will also mute polarized lenses, so check both ways.
The bigger sin is over-retouching. Painting the lens flat black hides a brown gradient, a blue flash mirror, or a G15 green, and buyers who ordered on that image send them back. Slip a white card behind the lens or backlight through a translucent sweep so the true tint and any top-to-bottom gradient reads. Because Shopify zooms into your full-size master, dust and fingerprints on that lens surface become the visible defect. Blow it off between every angle.
Colorway Variants And Consistent Theme Cropping
Sunglasses almost always sell as one style in five colorways, and Shopify ties one featured image per variant. When a shopper taps the tortoise swatch, the media panel jumps to that image, so tortoise, matte black, and crystal must all be shot from the identical camera position, height, and frame size. Mark tape on the table and do not touch the tripod between colors. If the frame sits 30 px lower in one shot, the swap looks broken.
Theme aspect ratio matters just as much. Dawn and most modern themes crop collection cards to whatever ratio you set, and sunglasses are extremely wide and short. A 4:5 portrait crop leaves a tiny frame floating in dead space on mobile; square with the frame rotated slightly to a three-quarter angle fills the card far better than a dead-straight front view.
